Dev Update 9/27/2020

52 days since a devlog..... oof.... Anyway, here's an update on the state of the game.

Hows progress on the game? Is there anything to be shown yet?

As far as additions to the actual game, there's not much to be said. Basic animation has been added to the main character, however it's currently in a super buggy state. There's not really a plan to fix that yet since there are other more important things to work on.

So what actually has happened with the game in the last 52 days?

More than there is to show. Most of the dev time for the last almost two months has been spent on revamping the base engine to be more robust and easier to work with. As stated in the last devlog, the engine is being written almost completely from scratch, which takes time. Especially for it to be anything worth using.

So how has the engine been improved? How does that effect the player?

The improvements to the engine can be simplified in two words. LUA SCRIPT! That's right. The last 52 days of development have been spent implementing Lua Script into the engine for more robust design and easier modification of the game. As it stands right now, most of the game, including most assets and update functions, will be run out of Lua. One of the happy side effects of this implementation is that, once the game is complete, it will support full modding.  So consider this the official announcement of modding support for Wizards Apprentice.

Official modding support before there's even game play to be shown? Crazy, right?
